Enhancing Support Group Facilitation Part I

I: Identify the benefits of working in groups.
II: Discuss the distinction between group process (dynamics) and group content.
III: Introduce the use of exercises and activities (rounds, dyads, triads, reflection activities, etc.) as a strategy to:
- make groups more interesting;
- engage and encourage individual participation,
- develop group cohesion, and
- support the achievement of group members’ goals.
IV: Engage the group in a variety of exercises and activities and allow time for the participants to process the group experience.
